Is this me? I don't really think this is me. I don't want to draw this type of comic. But hey, that's what these shorts are all about, right? If nothing else, I'm starting to find my inner voice.
And you know, I like having melodrama punctuated by goofy bullshit. I also REALLY like black and white, and I'd prefer to draw in the pseudo cartoony noir style that I was doing (and that I hadn't really shown you).
I'm going back to the drawing board. I'll see you in a few days to give you an update on how it's coming.

Rendesvous at R'Lyeh! (Page One)
Finally got this thing done! Man, was it a pain! The good kind, though. Although that part where I lost the flash drive it was on got me a little nervous! (It was under my desk)
I've said before how one limitation to doing an online comic as opposed to a print comic is that it needs to be paced page-by-page, but the medium's biggest advantage is the infinite canvas! In its native resolution, the page was thirty inches long! That's almost twice the size of the standard comic book page!I still don't really like the background colors too much, but if I never practice, I'll never get better, right? And I'm sure you're sick of hearing me complain about it over and over, so forget it!

Well, That's Not Too Bad
So I believe I'm finally ready to put my work to color.
It finally looks better colored than it does in black and white, and I think that's mostly because of the much brighter pallet I used here. I'm kinda going for a Saturday morning cartoon look to match the artwork and the lighter, softer attitude of the whole comic. I think it compliments it pretty well, but I'd love to hear other opinions on the matter. Of course, I'm still pretty lacking in this subject, but at least now I have no excuse not to practice.Yeah, Kinji's still albino. I don't have an actual reason to do it anymore; I just think it looks better. And seeing as how he now has nothing to do with Final Fantasy, it helps to justify his clothes (I just couldn't bring myself to radically change his design).
The Staryu thing next to him is Decarabia, a Grand Marquis of Hell as described in the Lesser Key of Solomon. He knows everything about herbs and metals, making him Kinji's cooking assistant.

Again With the Resetting!
Well, technically it's not a reset, but I am ditching the chapter I was working on. The A Plot went absolutely nowhere, and the chapter didn't really connect to the story as a whole. I was also having difficulty establishing the characters, both to the readers and to myself.
I've got the story to the first chapter pretty much worked out, but I've decided to go in a different direction for now. I think I'll finally take the advice Adam gave me over a year ago and focus on doing a few shorts until I get accustomed to the characters. There are quite a few of them this time around, so I definitely have to be careful about this. I mean, Meta ended up being kind of a disaster of a character, so I don't want to repeat that. Kinji's also changed almost completely, so I want to take that slowly.
Also, I'm hoping to keep an actual schedule here. I'll let you know what I'm planning as soon as I get my first page up.
